If you are like me, you might be a little concerned about high gas prices and big companies trying to rip you off. I’m really thinking to convert my car to run on water using HHO fuel (aka brown’s gas) to save money on gas. Many people have made testimonials that claim 50-70% improvement on gas millage once they have converted their car using this technology. This in itself is a major reason why I want to build a hydrogen fuel cell and fit it under the hood of my car.

Using a HHO fuel cell to power my car would have a second effect adding to using less gas. HHO fuel have the ability to clean up the engine itself during the first few hundred miles and keep it clean. Therefore it increases engine power and gas millage, reducing fuel consumption a little bit more.

A car that uses less gasoline in a clean engine means what? Cleaner exhaust emissions. The fact is that burning hydrogen result in only one by-product: water. No pollution at all. Reducing the gasoline consumption results in less exhaust fumes, cleaner engine result in cleaner exhaust fumes. Running my car with water using HHO fuel cell technology would have a great impact on my environment.

We are all searching new and effective solutions to create a better place to live by reducing pollution at the source. I think that doing what I can do over the things I control (my stuff: car, home, garden…) is the best way to move into the future.

I just need to learn a little bit more about the different plans, diagrams and kits that are available to build a homemade fuel cell for my car. I really want to convert my car to run on water. There are dozens of products available. Some of them work, others need fine tuning. I have narrowed down my researches to the best three products.

Product Description
Most general histories of technology are Eurocentrist, focusing on a main line of western technology that stretches from the Greeks through the computer. In this very different book Arnold Pacey takes a global view, placing the development of technology squarely in a “world civilization.” He portrays the process as a complex dialectic by which inventions borrowed from one culture are adopted to suit another. Pacey’s argument is both original and compelling. He demonstrates that western technology is an amalgam of cross-fertilizations from the great civilizations of China, India, and Islam and from the apparently primitive cultures of peasant farmers in Africa or Inuit hunters in the Arctic. In a lively and readable style, Pacey explains exactly how technologies (which he broadly defines to include such critical practices as agriculture and health care) were diffused across Asia to Africa and Europe, and then back again. A failure to appreciate the importance of this type of dialogue, Pacey observes, has often led to misguided programs that have sought to impose technologies on less developed nations without allowing for responsive innovation.

Covering the period from 700 to 1970, Pacey contrasts innovations based on critical survival needs with high technologies symbolizing the values of major civilizations. Examples include the Chinese gunpowder that provoked a more formidable cannon in Europe, Indian textile techniques that spurred the Industrial Revolution in Britain, and transistors from the U.S. that stimulated new kinds of consumer products in Japan. In m any cases, Pacey notes, technology is less the result of a direct transfer than of the diffusion of stimuli. Even “a mere rumor of an unfamiliar technique” could produce new ways to achieve similar results.
Product Description
Innovation is rapidly becoming democratized. Users, aided by improvements in computer and communications technology, increasingly can develop their own new products and services. These innovating users—both individuals and firms—often freely share their innovations with others, creating user-innovation communities and a rich intellectual commons. In Democratizing Innovation, Eric von Hippel looks closely at this emerging system of user-centered innovation. He explains why and when users find it profitable to develop new products and services for themselves, and why it often pays users to reveal their innovations freely for the use of all.

The trend toward democratized innovation can be seen in software and information products—most notably in the free and open-source software movement—but also in physical products. Von Hippel’s many examples of user innovation in action range from surgical equipment to surfboards to software security features. He shows that product and service development is concentrated among “lead users,” who are ahead on marketplace trends and whose innovations are often commercially attractive.

Von Hippel argues that manufacturers should redesign their innovation processes and that they should systematically seek out innovations developed by users. He points to businesses—the custom semiconductor industry is one example—that have learned to assist user-innovators by providing them with toolkits for developing new products. User innovation has a positive impact on social welfare, and von Hippel proposes that government policies, including R&D subsidies and tax credits, should be realigned to eliminate biases against it. The goal of a democratized user-centered innovation system, says von Hippel, is well worth striving for. An electronic version of this book is available under a Creative Commons license.
Product Description
Whether you are a scientist on a ship in Antarctic waters or a young girl in a Philippine village, you can learn whenever and whatever you want from whomever you are interested in learning it from.

As technologies have become more available, even in the most remote reaches of the world, and as more people contribute a wealth of online resources, the education world has become open to anyone anywhere. In The World Is Open, education technology guru Curtis Bonk explores ten key trends that together make up the “WE-ALL-LEARN” framework for understanding the potential of technology’s impact on learning in the 21st century:

Web Searching in the World of e-Books
E-Learning and Blended Learning
Availability of Open Source and Free Software
Leveraged Resources and OpenCourseWare
Learning Object Repositories and Portals
Learner Participation in Open Information Communities
Electronic Collaboration
Alternate Reality Learning
Real-Time Mobility and Portability
Networks of Personalized Learning

In addition, this important resource contains compelling interviews that capture the diverse global nature of the open educational world from those who are creating new learning technologies as well as those who are using them to learn and teach in new ways. Using the dynamic “WE-ALL-LEARN” model, learners, educators, executives, administrators, instructors, and parents can tap into the power of Web technology and unleash a world of information.
