The Isle of Wight is an ideal place for any kind of sport that is carried out on water. As the island had and still provides all the necessary conditions for water sports many sportsmen and enthusiasts are flocking to the Isle to practice their favorite activities and test their strength in various competitions. Hundreds of thrill seekers such as kite surfers, wind surfers and even land yachters straining to the limit show their intrepidity and professionalism. ‘White Air Festival’ held at the end of August is a super extreme sporting event that involves many mountain boarders, paramotor enthusiasts, racers and other competitors who are eager to take part in very venturesome activities. Admiring such daredevils you might think, and here you are wrong, that these “crazy” activities are only for young people whose bodies are covered with various tattoos and they have fancifully designed hair. It can sound very implausible but the fact of the matter is that the participants, willing to win, are from every age group and ability enjoy these very much and do it in the first place to have fun in this exciting and community atmosphere on the IOW. Between the competitions you can recreate yourselves a grassy hilltop studded with many tents where you can have a bite and listen to live bands or tune spinning DJs. If the ocean view is lacking for the “undulating” precondition, the waves, and the surface is calm there are always at least a few alternatives. For example the Isle of Wight can propose you to watch thrilling sights of proficient mountain boarders, their virtuosic ability to jump on extremely steep ramps. When you get tired of the sun you can visit the skate ramp tent and enjoy watching another version of this sport, a smaller one. However do not think that these sports are available on the island only during the summer season, they are going on simultaneously the whole year round on water as well as on land. Both the participants and spectators find the sports very attractive and amusing and of cause are keeping themselves amused. The thought that you are a newcomer should not grieve you at all. Now you are just an ordinary spectator but a minute later you have all chances to be turned into a new enthusiast because many of these sports have special sessions for beginners. Do not be afraid to get in some embarrassing positions while you are attempting to improve your new skills, it is quite natural and fun. Nobody is born skilled to do something and every one of those proficient participants was like you once. So they will be the most understanding encouragers and will cheer you up cajoling you through your first attempts. So as you can see you will be extremely busy on the Isle of Wight. Good luck!

Brazil has a coastline that extends nearly all along South America’s Atlantic, but most travelers just hit the two most famous beaches, those of Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema and Copacabana. Travelers who wish to venture outside of Rio to Brazil’s many other beaches, especially those in search of beaches with terrific water sports, like snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, swimming, and more, should check out Buzios, the peninsula that makes up nearly 25 beaches, located just about 2 hours north of Rio.

Buzios’s unique geography as an outcropping that juts out from the rest of the coastline, about half of Buzios’s beaches are open to the Atlantic currents, and thus good for surfing, and the other half are more quiet, and often more secluded.

Most people – locals and travlers alike – head for Ossos, the beach that is closest to the central part of town and the one that offers great tanning and soccer on the shore, as well as surfing. Often celebrities can be seen playing soccer or surfing at Ossos.

One of the best ways to appreciate fully Buzios’s beauty is to take a catamaran tour around the peninsula. The tour stops in several places, allowing those who are water-prone to dive into the clear waters and explore the colorful reefs. There are also islands near the mainland, many of which are not inhabited or barely inhabited. One of the best islands for diving is João Fernandinho, where monkfish, jewfish, anchovies, and barracudas live. On a tour, both veterans and beginners can dive, as each diver is given all equipment, instruction, and a professional guide.

Devoted surfers should check out Geribá. Tucuns beach is very quiet and remote – hardly anyone goes there. There are slim to no amentities, not even lifeguards, but occasionally surfer schools and kiteboard learners launch from the shores. For those who want calmer waters, Canto, Ferradura, and Canto Geribá are good bets. From Canto, it’s enjoyable to order a coffee or snack at a beachside café and watch the sun go down over the water.

Although the Maldives is not a destination which attracts surfers by the thousands, these tropical waters generate friendly waves which are ideal for novice surfers who just want to have a good time out among the waves. While many of the resorts located on the Maldivian Islands offer good quality surfing equipment at reasonable prizes, you do not have to worry about travelling with your own surf board. Windsurfing is another activity visitors could engage in while in the Maldives. As reasonable winds are on offer during most hours of the day, a trip to one of the wind surfing schools will give you the training you need to handle yourself well on the water.

Among the variety of water sports on offer, perhaps the most popular activity among visitors to the Maldives is snorkeling. While only certified divers are allowed to explore the farthest depths of the Maldivian seas, anyone can put on a pair of goggles and float over the shallow reefs where you can find all sorts of corals, starfish, crabs and other sea creatures that call these shallow waters their home. The level of visibility is simply amazing which enables visitors to see what lies beneath the waves with great detail. Most resorts located on these islands have their own reef where you can spend hours in the water admiring its beauty.

If you want to try your hand at something really challenging, water skiing is what you’re looking for. You will be able to book a water skiing trip from a local resort where you will get the chance glide on the water at break neck speeds which will give you a rush that is beyond words. Para-sailing, catamaran sailing and big game fishing are some of the other water related activities which you can also try your hand at while in Maldives.

John Keells Hotels Group is the proud owner of several Maldives hotels which are known to offer comfortable accommodation along with excellent service. These hotels also provide superb dining options and a host of modern amenities which is sure to make your Maldives travel experience a memorable one.

When parents took their children to lakes during the summer they were intent on teaching their children to ski. These unsuspecting parents had no idea what their children might choose to do with that newly acquire talent. At first the parents were all in favor of the many hours that their children chose to spend outside. They were not privy to the fact that all of that time was spent on skis learning various tricks.

The parents were very positive about skiing because they felt that this water sport was a good physical activity that would keep their children busy and out of trouble for the better part of the summer. Looking outside once in a while might have given them a reason to change their minds. If they had, they might have had a hand in training their children for the things that were occurring in the middle of the lake.

The parents never gave it a second thought when they saw ramps being built on docks in the center of the lake. They did notice the increase in high speed boats on the water and made a mental note to check in to that fact with the neighbors. They wanted to caution their children to stay out of the way of those boats, but even if they had remembered it would have been too late.

When water sports are enjoyed by children without parental controls, they have a tendency to get very extreme in a very short amount of time. The superb craftsmanship in water skis in use today is very different from the skis that parents used when they went water skiing as a child and the new age athletes get totally addicted to this particular water sport.

The things that can be done on the new designs in water skis are definitely different from the old days. The ski designs are made with lighter materials that allow them to soar through the air and twist and turn with precision accuracy that people grew to love the sports extremely well. Water skiing has turned into extreme water sports that require extremely refined skills and nerves of steel.

Parents are in awe of the number of feats that can be accomplished on skis and some people simply wonder how some skiers manage the moves that they do when they rise up out of the water behind the ski boat with no skis on their feet. Even if the skis are lightweight, there are some water sports enthusiasts that prefer to ski barefoot. They are still able to achieve great heights when they ski but they prefer to experiment with the no shoes approach that they consider a skill.

The basic concept of a kitesurf board consists of a laminated wood core which is more preferred than a PVC foam core with a fair amount of flex built into it. Some kiteboards are made with laminated wood cores while Herex is used in non-critical sections to make it lightweight. The rocker line is shaped in a specific way to broaden the curvature towards the tips. With the swank concave underside, foot straps and a carbon fiber sheath to act as protective layer, they are made good looking and useful. These boards are constructed with moderate amount of flex suitable for extremely aggressive riders and they come in three sizes of 125 cm x 38 cm; 128.5 cm x 40 cm and 133.5 cm x 40.5 cm.

Another kind of board has to be mentioned in this article. The basic layout is done with lamination of wooden pith and they are concave, have changeless rocker, which is worked up in fiber glass and with a 3 D rear side. They are referred to as Super Flex, and they provide a comfortable ride, and a feeling of perfect balance to the rider. Since, these boards can also track the upwind, they have become very popular as well and are available in three separate sizes. The Ripper is 132 cm x 38.5 cm, the Soul ATV sizes up to 133 cm x 40 cm and the Fakie is 135 cm x 41.5 cm.

The users can make a selection from yet one more kitesurf board, which is appropriate for light wind conditions. Prepared with Carbon Pro, it has a squared finish and the rails are on the straight side. It is designed with a straight backside and a solid rocker line to sail through those conditions when the wind is light. This is a good option for still water surfaces as well because by using them, the person does not need to put in much effort and skill.

There are several brands of boards that include the Slingshot, Cabrina, Spleene and North Kiteboarding, and many of them are known for their superb functional capabilities and fine workmanship. What you need to do is select the board that fits you the best because many of them come with unique special features.

If you desire to have a great time adventure sporting, the first thing you should be doing is getting a good quality kitesurf board because you must always ensure your safety as well. Besides ensuring that your experience of kiteboarding leaves you completely satisfied, the right equipment will also see to it that you play well and learn fast.

The Cayman Islands are well known for the outstanding dive sites and clear waters, but what if this doesn’t interest you? Well there are plenty of other water sports that you can take part in. John Guinn, the Cayman Islands Specialist at Holiday Hut lists his top nine.

Parasailing

When parasailing (also know as parascending) you are attached to a specially designed parachute, or parasail, and to a boat. The forward movement of the boat causes the parachute to rise and you are lifted up in the air. If the boat has enough power, then two or three people can share the same parachute.

Jet Ski

Jet Ski is a brand name, but in the same way that all spa baths are Jacuzzis and all vacuum cleaners are Hoovers, any personal watercraft that relies on a petrol powered engine and acts like a motorbike is know as a Jet Ski.

Jet skiing is fantastic fun, after a brief introduction you could be powering across the water on your own, or even going on a Jet Ski Safari to Stingray City. Just try not to think about the fact that they don’t have brakes!

Kiteboarding/Kitesurfing

Simple to explain, but difficult to master, a kiteboarder has his feet strapped to a board, while holding onto a large kite. The kite is used to propel the kiteboarder across the water. Both the board and the kite have to be controller to enable the kiteboarder to move and to do stunts. The Cayman Islands have a warm steady wind year round, making it the ideal place to learn to Kiteboard.

Windsurfing

Once called ‘surfing’s ginger haired cousin’ by the traditional surfers, windsurfing has become very popular, and until recently windsurfers were able to travel on waves that were too large for tradition surfing. A windsurf board is similar to a surfboard, but has a large sail, with a boon attached to it. Similar stunts to those performed by kiteboarders are possible. The best place to windsurf on Grand Cayman is near a flat water reef at East End. Speak to local guides if you want a more challenging surf.

Wakeboarding

When wakeboarding you are towed along by a motorboat while your feet are strapped to a wakeboard. It is a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing.

Wakesurfing

A surfer is pulled along by the same type of boat that is used in wakeboarding, except the surfer releases the two rope and surfs the wake produced by the boat in a similar manner as normal surfing.

Surfing

Not a sport that you would associate with the calm Caribbean Sea, but at certain times of the year it is possible to have some challenging waves around he Cayman Islands. The Hurricane Season particularly August and September can see large swells due to nearby hurricanes and tropical storms. Although you could go weeks without a decent wave.

Sailing

Although off the beaten track, the Cayman Islands have excellent waters in which to sail. Despite the generally calm waters, there are hidden dangers with the many coral reefs around the islands, so care should be taken. Also these reefs make excellent places to stop and admire the underwater life (following the strict laws about mooring, or course). It is probably best to avoid the hurricane season as the rains and winds can make sailing difficult. If you don’t have your own boat, local companies have group sailings, or you could charter your own yacht along with a crew.

Kayaks

Sometimes called a canoe in error, a kayak differs from a canoe in that it has a closed paddling area. Also in a kayak you sit on a seat directly on the bottom of the boat and your legs are extended in front of you, but in a canoe you either kneel or sit on a elevated seat.

You can either kayak along the beach near your hotel, or for a magical experience you could go on a guided Eco-Tour around Grand Cayman and get a better understanding of the natural hidden beauty of the Cayman Islands.
